New management duo at Humbaur
‘Be successful’ – With this resolution, Olaf Sackers and Tobias Merk join the management team at Humbaur.

Humbaur GmbH, one of the world's leading trailer manufacturers, is delighted to announce the appointment of Olaf Sackers and Tobias Merk to its senior management team. In future, Olaf Sackers will be responsible for sales, marketing, after-sales, technology, development, product management, quality and production. Tobias Merk will take over responsibility for human resources, IT, commercial functions, purchasing and logistics.

"They bring exactly the right mix of skills we need to ensure the further development of our company. Olaf Sackers' knowledge of manufacturing technologies in automated metal processing, his product development expertise for series products and his mastery of complexity and variance are very valuable to Humbaur. Tobias Merk, on the other hand, with his relevant experience, is exactly the right person to run our company and business model sustainably from a commercial perspective. Both also bring with them extensive management experience, from which we can only benefit."
About Olaf Sackers
Sackers worked in the automotive supply industry and the motorhome sector for many years. The 54-year-old mechanical engineer gained his experience in various management positions in medium-sized companies in Germany and abroad. He always strives to carry out his work in accordance with his guiding principles of commitment, reliability and honesty. ‘Value-oriented action and assuming social responsibility are incredibly important to me,’ says Sackers. ‘In line with this value culture, I want to establish Humbaur GmbH as a stable and sustainable company in the long term, continue to push ahead with digitalisation and automation, and position our products and services at home and abroad in such a way that we are competitive.’
About Tobias Merk
Born in Augsburg, he studied economics in his hometown before working for several years for a large management consultancy and in the financial sector abroad. Over the past 13 years, Merk has held various positions at an internationally active, medium-sized company based in the region, most recently as commercial managing director. He is therefore delighted to be joining Humbaur, an industrial company with deep value creation, a national and international dealer network and an impressive history. ‘For me, it's now a matter of further exploiting the potential and accompanying Humbaur GmbH on its way to becoming a large industrial company. This is a process in which I want to take everyone along with me: our customers, suppliers and employees,’ says Merk. ‘It's important to me that all parties know that they can rely on me and that I will do my best for them.’
Dr Volker Nilles stepped down from the management board at Humbaur on 15 October 2025 after three years. Humbaur GmbH would like to thank Mr Nilles for his commitment and dedication. The owner and the entire team at Humbaur GmbH wish Mr Nilles all the best for his future career and personal life.
